Statutory disclosures
California Employment Agency disclosures.
Natural Harmonics Careers operates as an employment agency as defined by California Civil Code §1812.501(a) and complies with the requirements applicable to employment agencies under California law. The disclosures below are made to every client and are reproduced here for the public record.
1. Surety bond · Civil Code §1812.503
Pursuant to California Civil Code §1812.503, Natural Harmonics Careers maintains a surety bond in the principal sum of Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00), Bond No. 566610Y, effective September 1, 2026, issued by a surety company admitted to do business in the State of California, with a copy filed with the California Secretary of State.
The bond is in favour of and payable to the people of the State of California and is conditioned upon our compliance with Civil Code §§1812.500–1812.508. It is for the benefit of any person damaged by any violation of that title or by fraud, dishonesty, misstatement, misrepresentation, deceit, unlawful acts or omissions, or failure to provide our services. Claims against the bond may be asserted in accordance with applicable law. We provide current surety identification and contact information upon written request.
2. Jobseeker fee schedule · Civil Code §1812.505(a)
Pursuant to Civil Code §1812.505(a), we provide every client with a copy of this fee schedule and the payment terms of the Active Reverse Recruiting Services Agreement before the client is interviewed by any counsellor, agent or employee of Natural Harmonics Careers. The maximum fee for each compensation class is fixed below and includes every charge of any kind rendered on the client's behalf. No fee charged or collected shall exceed the fee as scheduled.
| Compensation class (first-year annual gross base) | Maximum client placement fee | % of projected annual gross | % of first month's gross |
|---|---|---|---|
| $250,001 – $299,999 | $29,999 | 10% | 120% |
| $300,000 – $349,999 | $34,999 | 10% | 120% |
| $350,000 – $399,999 | $39,999 | 10% | 120% |
| $400,000 – $449,999 | $44,999 | 10% | 120% |
| $450,000 – $499,999 | $49,999 | 10% | 120% |
| $500,000 and above | 10% of first-year annual gross base | 10% | 120% |
The Client Placement Fee equals ten percent (10%) of projected first-year annual gross base earnings, which is mathematically equivalent to one hundred twenty percent (120%) of the client's first month's gross base earnings, in every compensation class. Hourly positions are converted to projected annual gross earnings at the contracted hourly rate multiplied by 2,080 hours.
Changes to this schedule. Any change takes effect no earlier than seven (7) days after posting and does not apply to any agreement executed before the change takes effect. A copy of the schedule in effect, and of all changes, is retained for one (1) year.
3. No other charges · Civil Code §1812.505(c)–(d)
Pursuant to Civil Code §1812.505(c), Natural Harmonics Careers accepts no registration fee of any kind, directly or indirectly. Pursuant to §1812.505(d), we take no confession of judgment, promissory note or assignment of wages from any client to cover our fees. No deposit or prepayment of any kind is required or accepted.
The Client Placement Fee is the sole and entire fee charged to a client. We charge no registration fee, intake fee, retainer, subscription fee, deposit, administrative fee, cancellation fee, résumé fee, counselling fee, minimum fee, or any other charge of any kind, whether directly or indirectly. No amount is payable by a client at any time unless and until the client accepts an offer of employment procured through our services.
4. Refund and placement protections · Civil Code §1812.506
(a) Failure to accept employment
Pursuant to §1812.506(a), if a client has paid or become obligated to pay a fee and fails to accept employment, we shall, upon the client's request, repay the amount of the fee. If the amount is not returned within forty-eight (48) hours after request, we shall pay the client an additional sum equal to that amount.
(b) Ninety-day placement standard
Pursuant to §1812.506(b), employment provided to a client from whom a fee is received is considered permanent only if it lasts longer than ninety (90) days. If the client leaves the position for just cause, or is discharged for reasons other than misconduct connected with the client's work, within the first ninety (90) days of employment, we refund or reduce the Client Placement Fee in accordance with §1812.506(b). The statutory definitions of “just cause” and “misconduct” in §1812.506(b)(2) and (b)(3) govern.
(c) Replacement placement benefit
In addition to and without limiting the client's rights under §1812.506(b), if the client's employment ends for any reason within ninety (90) days of the client's first day, we shall, at the client's request, conduct a replacement placement search at no additional charge. No further Client Placement Fee is payable in connection with any placement resulting from a replacement search, regardless of whether the replacement position carries higher or lower compensation.
(d) Non-performance
If we fail to perform any services contracted for, the client is entitled to a full refund of all fees paid. If we perform some but not all contracted services and no placement results, the client is entitled to a pro-rata refund proportional to the services not rendered. No Client Placement Fee is earned or retained unless and until the client accepts an offer of employment procured through our services.
5. Fee disclosure
(a) Client Placement Fee. Ten percent (10%) of the client's first-year gross annual base compensation, payable upon placement, calculated on gross annual base salary excluding bonuses, equity compensation, commissions, benefits and other variable compensation. Due within fifteen (15) calendar days of the client's first day of employment. We provide a written fee calculation upon the client's acceptance of a qualifying offer.
(b) Employer Placement Fee. In addition to the Client Placement Fee, we may separately charge the hiring employer an Employer Placement Fee equal to ten percent (10%) of the client's first-year gross annual base compensation under a separate Employer Placement Agreement. This employer-side fee is a business expense of the hiring employer and is separate from and in addition to the client's payment obligation.
(c) Combined fee acknowledgment. We may earn a combined fee of not more than twenty percent (20%) of the client's first-year gross annual base compensation from both streams arising from the same placement transaction. These are the only two fees we charge in connection with a placement. Clients consent to this dual-compensation arrangement in writing, and we disclose to each prospective employer that the client has engaged us and that we receive a Client Placement Fee from the client upon placement.
6. Contract receipt
By signing the Active Reverse Recruiting Services Agreement, the client acknowledges: (a) receipt of a fully executed copy of the agreement and of the fee schedule above, delivered prior to the client being interviewed by any counsellor, agent or employee; (b) having read and understood its terms, including the dual-stream fee structure, the dual-compensation disclosure and consent, and the refund and placement protections; and (c) that Natural Harmonics Careers has made no guarantee of employment or specific job placement.
7. Salary history policy · Labor Code §432.3
Natural Harmonics Careers does not seek, require, request or condition its services upon a client's disclosure of current or prior compensation history, and does not invite clients to provide it. Consistent with California Labor Code §432.3, we do not rely upon salary history information as a factor in determining a client's target compensation range, in setting our advocacy position, or in any other aspect of our services. Clients are asked to provide a target compensation range — a minimum acceptable base and a desired level — which is necessary to identify and evaluate suitable opportunities.
8. Independent legal review · Rule 1.8.6
Prior to executing the agreement, every client is entitled to request an independent legal review at no cost. We arrange and pay for up to one (1) hour of consultation with an independent California employment attorney who represents the client's interests exclusively. Our payment of fees creates no attorney-client relationship between us and that counsel and does not limit or direct the advice provided; the arrangement is structured in compliance with California Rules of Professional Conduct Rule 1.8.6, with written disclosure and informed written consent prior to the consultation. Natural Harmonics Careers is separately represented by its own California-barred counsel, who does not represent clients in any capacity.
9. Applicability
These disclosures apply to all clients who are residents of the State of California or who engage Natural Harmonics Careers for job placement services to be performed primarily within the State of California, in accordance with Civil Code §§1812.500–1812.508. Natural Harmonics Careers operates as an employment agency as defined by Civil Code §1812.501(a). Nothing in any agreement limits any right or remedy available to a client under Civil Code §§1812.500–1812.508 or against the surety bond described above.
